I first shared this image, discovered in a 1952 Architectural Forum, early last year and it’s been a superstar ever since. The technicolor glory of this Barton’s has been consigned to history and memory. There are just a slender few of the brilliant light fixtures still in existence—one is currently on display at the Brooklyn Museum. Why isn’t someone writing an illustrated history of modern retail?
